By now, most people have heard of Kid Cudi (rhymes with muddy not moody). I didn’t start out as a fan of Cudi, but now I can’t stop listening to the Crookers’ remix of Day ‘N’ Nite. From Ohio, the hip hop artist first caught the eye of industry members with his free download mixtape A Kid Named Cudi (2008). Kanye West heard the collection and after a quick series of events, the Kid signed with Kanye’s GOOD Music Label (Getting Out Our Dreams). Kid Cudi was featured on Yeezy’s latest album, 808’s and Heartbreak, and the rest took care of itself from that point.

Just as Lupe Fiasco attracted huge attention after his verse on Kanye’s Touch the Sky, Kid Cudi’s name became known with his contributions on Welcome to Heartbreak. Here’s the music video: (your monitor is fine, it’s the style of the video)

Since then, Cudi has been featured on various other albums, and his voice has reached the iTunes of most hip hop enthusiasts. Cudi’s debut album, Man on the Moon: the Guardians, is set for a summer 2009 release. The Ohio native has smooth flow and a touch of originality. You’ll be seeing a lot more Kid Cudi in the future, as long as he doesn’t keep getting tasered.

If you haven’t heard the Crooker’s remix of Day ‘N’ Nite, be sure to give it a listen: (they made a music video just for the remix)
